Fruitful GBS / IBCE Day for Prospective Students

21 January 2017

High caliber prospective students gained the gist of GBS and IBCE journey after attending the annual GBS / IBCE Day on 21 January 2017.

Dedicated alumni from various industry were invited to share their precious working experience with over 70 high school students. This not only gave students an understanding which industries GBS and IBCE alumni would engage themselves in, but also helped them to explore their career interests. They were also enlightened by a mock case study led by an alumnus who was veteran in case competitions. Topics included how to identify the key issues for a company facing different problems and how to formulate recommendations. This gave participants a taste of case competitions they will be up for in these two programs.

To prepare participating students for the upcoming admissions interview, a workshop was also arranged to sharpen participants’ skill sets. The event was concluded by a mingling session which prospective students were able to get acquainted with students from CUHK and our partner universities – Copenhagen Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and University of South Carolina.

The GBS / IBCE Day was well received with many different positive responses from the participants. “The mingling session with current students is extremely rewardable,” said Angie Lee, one of the prospective students. “I really liked the fact that students are able to talk to different business schools from GLOBE / GBS. I learnt so much about how they develop globalized skills.”

Hannah Wang, a year one IBCE student, attended the GBS / IBCE Day again but in a different role. “I was one of the participants of this event last year. Greatly motivated by the passion and energy of the program director, I became a member of IBCE the following year. This event gave me a thorough understanding of GBS / IBCE and a chance to practically solve a business case that is very close to our daily life. I was warmly introduced to currents students and I kept contact with them until now”. This year, Hannah helped to receive prospective students as a student ambassador from IBCE.

GBS / IBCE Day is one of the outreach activities by Global Business Programs (Global Business Studies – GBS; International Business and Chinese Enterprise – IBCE) which prospective students can get to understand the programs from different perspectives.
